The Funeral Ladies of Ellerie County by Claire Swinarski
This was a great story about a community coming together to help one of their own, and a wonderful love story mixed in.
Esther Larson of Northwoods, Wisconsin fell victim to an internet scam and lost a lot of money. She was reluctant to tell anyone and her granddaughter, Iris, without scolding her, stepped in to find a solution.
Iris feels left behind as everyone seems to be moving to bigger and better things and she wants to find what she needs where she is. Cooper comes to town with his own issues, a step sister that needs him, a celebrity father, and some dark remnants of a past he wants to find a way back to.
With the talents of the community and their cooking charms an idea to solve the big problem for Esther comes into play. Sometimes food can solve problems.
I really enjoyed the community aspect of this story and the characters. 4/5 ⭐
